Went to Cafe Rouge Stratford upon Avon to meet up with a former coworker. I have said coworker as old work colleague does not sound right. I remember a time when there was a Cafe Rouge in most towns. Now the outlets are down to 10.
Location
Enjoy life the Parisian way at Café Rouge in Stratford Upon Avon, Sheep Street. They combine the elegance of Parisian dining with the cultural heritage of the birthplace of Shakespeare. Why not stop by for a glass of wine after visiting Anne Hathaway’s Cottage or enjoy a delicious lunch before a show at the Royal Shakespeare Company?
Cafe Rouge is found on Sheep Street in Stratford Upon Avon with roadside, metered parking (if you do not want to stay more than 2 hours) and many other car parks in the vicinity. It’s two minutes walk from the picturesque boating lake and green – and as with all of Stratford, it’s just gorgeous.
The Café also has a courtyard garden to the rear.
Character and Style
The decor is what you’d expect in a classic French bistro. Vintage posters line the walls – from gorgeous glam Vogue covers, to old 1920s and 1930s adverts. There’s lots of brass, wood and mirrors dot the walls, making the space feel a little larger, despite the cluttering of frames and dark wood.
Food and Drink

We both had the same chicken and apple pie. The chicken was a bit dry. The jus was not to my taste but using it would have moistened the chicken a bit though. The apple pie, but obviously not restaurant made, was OK as was the ice cream.
Verdict
It was a bulk standard OK meal. This is probably why there are no so few restaurants left.
I remember in the past I would go in for l would go in for lunch for steak frites, Toulouse sausage and frites and Tarte aux Fine. Not a patch on it today.
I was disappointed and would not go out of my way to return.
